Daria Volynska

Daria Volynska is Ukrainian-American artist, sculptor, musician, theatre video projections and set designer, was born and raised in Sudak, Ukraine in one of the most picturesque corners of the earth located on the shores of the Black Sea, where were worked and created such masters of painting as Ivan Aivazovsky, Konstantin Bogaevsky, and Maximilian Voloshin.

She grew up in the family of a sculptor and an artist from childhood, watching the work of her father and grandfather in their studio and began drawing at age of seven after started art classes in a school.

After her immigration to the USA, she continued her work by being inspired by artists like Marc Chagall, Kazimir Malevich, and Edvard Munch.

Through her work, she tries to express the problems that concern everyone in our time – discrimination and political instability.

She is interested in transformative possibilities that merge various movements throughout historical canon with modern tropes in order to create clever, provocative and symbolic contemporary art that plays on our psychological, cultural and spiritual relationships.
